The Amazing Crashing Gimpshop
Installed GIMPShop under Windows. Run it, create a new image...crash.
Numerous uninstalls and re-installs - same thing.
Trying again with regular GIMP. If that doesn't work, I'll be going back to proprietary graphics software. Paint Shop Pro never gave me the same troubles that GIMPShop (or GIMP, for that matter) did.
-1 points to the hippies.

The problem is that to make GIMPShop installable, the author included gtk libraries in the installation itself, perhaps unfamiliar with Windows registry's ability to find the newer libraries should updates occur (which they have). There are instructions 'out there on the web' for replacing the .dll's of the gimpshop .dll's provided with the ones from your current install of gtk, which fixes the boom/crash problem.
Perhaps uninstalling gtk completely and reinstalling GIMPSHOP would have the same effect, perhaps not - depending on how stable the gtk version included was.
