The only update today is to the small legal print below. I'll reproduce what it says here: "Non-commerical duplication of this material must credit this site and link back to it." I added this because some people apparently do not understand what the term "copyright" means. While I do provide the material on this site free of charge, it is not "...free to reproduce", as some people apparently think. Now, realistically, if you want to use stuff from Mythosa on your own web site, I really don't mind. In fact, it's rather gratifying to know that someone likes what I've done enough to want to use it themselves. It would be appropriate to ask me first (and most people do), but as long as someone credits the origin of the material (i.e.; points out where it came from), I'm cool with that. It's when people use my material, and don't point out where it came from that I get irked. I suppose I could have made that more clear in the past. Well, I'm doing it now.

So, to summarize: If you want to use my material for non-commercial purposes, please ask me first (if you're afraid that I'll say "no", I really don't think you need to worry about it). If you can't be bothered to ask me, at least tell people where the material came from...don't wait until they ask you questions until you admit that it didn't originate with you.

4/25/2004 I heard that the kids were all into that "weblog" thing, so I added one to the site. The "hyperlink", as they call it, is to the left...

The full version of TableSmith eXpress, the PalmOS version of TableSmith, is now available from the RPG Utilities page. The full and demo versions are the same program; the demo version becomes "unlocked" when you register. Registration cost is US$5.00.

There are a few other updates as well. The Dungeon Index has been updated to issue #110, and I've added a couple of magic item pages to the World Guide. One is for standard magic items (rings, wondrous items, etc.), and currently details an item often used by the Swords of Baltur when they go into battle. The other page is for artifacts and also has one entry, though more should be joining it. And, no, there is no "Talisman of Khatra"; I'm not even sure what that question means...<cough>.

The PalmOS version of TableSmith, "TableSmith eXpress" (or TSX) will soon be available. The manual file that ships with the program will go into details on how it works, and what is supported. Due to the nature and limitations of the Palm, only a subset of the TableSmith format works in TSX, but it'll still allow you to generate lots of things. The tables that come with TSX include Angel/Demon Names, Arabic Names, Book Titles, Celtic Names, Dwarf/Norse Names, Elf Names, Fantasy Names I, Fantasy Names II, Herb Names, Lizardfolk Names, Lovecraft, Orc Names, Orc Tribes, Organizations, Shakespearean Insults, Tavern Names, and Town Names.

Unlike TableSmith, TSX will not be shareware but a commerical product. How and where I don't know yet, but I'll let you know when I do. In the meantime, I've made the demo available so you can give it a try (make sure you're running PalmOS version 3 or higher). The demo is fully functional, but it only allows you to access the first two tables in the TSX database. The full version will allow for many more.

3/21/2004 I've uploaded a new version of The Divine and the Devoted PDF. This version takes into account changes to the priesthoods based on rules I'm incorporating from Unearthed Arcana. Basically, paladins have been added to the religions of Lyranis (CG), Azakhar (LE), and Aadu (CE). I've also added clerics to Baltur (LG), though his "priesthood" is still primarily focused on paladins. I also updated a couple of the domains in the book (Diplomacy, in particular). I'm also planning on updating this book again, so that any domain not found in the PHB is in the PDF.

There's also a minor update to the House Rules page, with Bladesingers being added as an allowed prestige class (Arcane Archers and Bladesingers were primarily elven professions, but their memory is carried by half-elves who remain in the world). I also removed the page on Nethermagic; this is being re-vamped and will be re-posted in the future.

I've started a Quick Reference page as well, mainly for my own benefit, but it may provide ideas for others.

Finally, there's a minor update to TableSmith, to fix a bug I recently became aware of. For most people, it won't be an issue. The problem was that if you editted the file tablesmith.cfg and pointed the "data" or "archives" keys to somewhere that wasn't the default, the program didn't read them properly. This has been fixed, though this is an undocumented - and therefore unsupported - feature. Even though it's unsupported, it should still work the way I originally intended it to - thus the fix!
2/28/2004 With the release of Unearthed Arcana, I've adopted a variety of rules from that book. The list of what is being used for Mythosa has been added to the House Rules page, though everything is subject to change. There's some good stuff in UA, but I'll have to see how well it works.

I've also uploaded a submitted NPC generator for HARP, ICE's new fantasy RPG. You can find the table in the Table Gallery. Finally, I've updated the Dungeon Index; it's current to issue #109.

Hopefully I'll have some new content soon! I do need to revise the Mythosa PDFs (again) to accomodate some of the UA-spawned changes, but I really need to get some other material up as well.
2/4/2004 I've finally gone through and updated my tables in the Table Gallery to be compliant with the current version of TableSmith. I had a lot that still included old functionality (like "CC~") that still worked but which have been unsupported for quite some time. I wasn't setting a very good example for people who are looking at those tables to understand how to create their own. It'll also help me in the future, since that unsupported functionality will be removed in the next version of TS.

Note that I only updated the tables that I created originally (with one exception where I did all the tables in the pack, mainly because I use them myself). I did not update other people's tables, nor will I be doing that; I simply don't have the time. As always, if there is a problem with a table, please contact the table's author directly. And if anyone has an updated table to submit (regardless of if you were the creator or updated someone else's), feel free and I'll put it in the Gallery.
2/2/2004 The Dungeon Magazine index has been updated, and is now current to issue #108. I've also updated the House Rules for the Mythosa campaign.

As you can see, I've also updated the Web site graphics again. I liked what I had before, but the color and texture looked too washed-out. I think the new background has a lot more "character" to it. I also converted the navigation menu - the left side of the page - to use just text rather than graphics; it's simpler to maintain. Using XHTML and CSS helps, too.
1/18/2004 Nothing much to report with this update, other than updating the Dungeon Magazine index (now current to issue #107). Hopefully I'll get some more things up before the end of the month. Always planning, always looking for the time...

Hmm...I really need to clean up this page. It's pretty cluttered down below...
