The PDFs for Aeryandris and Aadu are up on the Sourcebooks page. The remaining sourcebooks are almost ready; once they've passed the editing stage they'll be posted.

The PDF for Baltur is up on the Sourcebooks page.

11/25/2006

The first of the individual deity PDFs has been posted to the Sourcebooks page. This one is for Jhadara, since one of the PCs in my current campaign is a Reveler. Next up is Baltur, since one of the other PCs has just picked up a level in paladin. That PDF is actually done and awaiting proofreading. On deck should be Aeryandris, since that's the patron deity of another PC. The other PCs are godless heathens, so there's no particular order for the other deities.

It's late so I have to be brief here. First - issue #12 of the Mythosa Chronicle has finally been posted! Long overdue, I realize. Also, the formatting is pretty bad, at least compared to previous issues. That's because I used Scribus this time rather than Word. Yes, using an actual desktop publishing app made it look worse. Not the hippies' fault, though; I just need to get used to it. The format of the Chronicle will be changing anyway after the revision/release of the Divine and the Devoted sourcebooks and the forthcoming Mythosa Compendium (Volume I).

I also uploaded some 3.5 spell sheets I made to the Resources page. These spells are for the standard classes and prestige classes in the PHB and DMG. They contain all the spells from the PHB, PHBII, and Spell Compedium.

Where did the summer go? Jeez... Anyway, the revision of Mythosa has begun. I haven't decided yet if the timeline will be advanced by 25 years or 10 years; I don't want to push things too far ahead but at the same time there needs to be adequate time for things to change in a meaningful way.

In any case, the world maps have been updated. The main map has been re-done entirely in Campaign Cartographer 3 with no post-production work (as was the case with the previous map). The demographic maps have been re-done in GIMP, which is pretty nice (well, the Linux version is; I'm not too impressed with the Windows port). There are a few changes to note in the maps:

  • The dwarven city of Kharazgar has been added.
  • Tyr Aegas is no longer a ruin; it has been re-occupied and is being restored by the Sylvari.
  • The Miradese capital of Aeldmont is in ruins (Aranmor is now the capital of Miradel).
  • The Abyssal Maelstrom has been added (what's that...?).

There are other changes, but they aren't evident on the map.

The PDFs will be updated as well. There may be a bit of a delay as I'm going to be re-doing them in Scribus, an open source desktop publishing program. This should hopefully produce better results than Word (though Word's not bad).

OK, I lied - the website underwent a revision. A relatively minor one, but a revision nevertheless. I liked the old design but I was inspired last night to do a minor site redesign. There were a few things that kept bugging me, like the wasted space to the right of the main content, the offset of the header graphic, and the tan boxes everything was contained in (and the fact that "dotted" in Firefox looks good while "dotted" in IE looks terrible). I also decided to change the font I was using. Verdana - the former one - is a good choice for readability on a computer screen. But it looks too modern for what I'm going for here. So I switched it to "Georgia", which most Windows users should have (and hopefully, most Mac or Linux people). I think a serif font is more appropriate for a quasi-medieval fantasy setting. Verdana would have worked better for a modern or future setting.

Anyway, I like how the site looks now. Seems to have more of a "professional" appearance that it did before.

No update today. I just wanted to mention that Mythosa (the world, not the website) will be undergoing a revision in the near future. Since our old campaign has ended, I figured it was as good a time as any to shake things up and do some "continental housecleaning" as it were. I'm not going to re-do large chunks of Mythosa and say "it's always been that way - adjust your memories accordingly". I've done that too much in the past and it takes too much time away from going forward. Rather, I'm going to be moving the timeline ahead a bit - I'm thinking about 25 years or so. Some things will change, others will stay more-or-less the same. This gives me a chance to enhance the cooler aspects of the world and change those parts I'm not overly fond of. Of course, it'll all be part of the history.

What changes are coming? I have a few plans but little set in stone. The Runir - like the Sylvari - will be returning (still no halflings or gnomes, I'm afraid!)...I'm planning on redoing the map in CC3 (more-or-less as it is; no "re-imagining")...I need to get back to work on the Mythosa Chronicle, which is very overdue...the minor gods of Mythosa need to be written-up...

07/09/2006 Dungeon Index: Has been updated to issue 137.
07/05/2006 Dungeon Index: Has been updated to issue 136. I've also modified the index page to make it easier to locate an adventure for a specific level.
07/04/2006 Table Gallery: I've updated a number of tables in the gallery to work with version 5.0. Some were moved into the "Old" zip file since I don't have time to go back and fix tables that in many cases didn't function properly with version 4.5, much less 5.0.

TableSmith: I've posted another update of TableSmith 5.0. I discovered a bug where it was being case-sensitive to group names, which it didn't do in prior versions.
06/24/2006 TableSmith 5.0 Now Available

TableSmith 5.0 is done and may downloaded be here!

The biggest update today - the Web site has undergone a complete revision, as should be obvious if you're reading this! I've been meaning to redo the site for awhile. It seems like I just did, but looking in the archives, the last design was put into place over two years ago (and actually was another re-vamp from my first try with web standards two months prior to that). My biggest problem with the last design was that it was too visually bland and monochromatic. I didn't want a graphics-heavy site like I had three years ago due to the difficulty in updating it, but I think the last change went too far in the other direction and was more spartan than I cared for. What I have now works, I think. Until I decide to tweak it or change it again, of course.

For the most part, the site is the same as it was before. The left-side menu is pretty much the same, though I did shuffle some things around. Two of my articles were moved to the weblog, the Mythosa Chronicle was given its own page, and I added a "Schedule" page so I don't need to maintain our gaming group's schedule the two different wikis. I also dropped some very old programs and code from the "RPG Utilities" page, since I didn't see a reason to keep them around any longer.

The revision also made me dislike Internet Explorer a lot more, but I've ranted about that elsewhere. Enough said about that.

In any case, I hope you like the new design of the site. If you find something that is broken or doesn't work like it should, let me know and I'll fix it as soon as I can.

2/15/2006 Uploaded Mythosa Chronicle #11.
1/16/2006 Updated the Dungeon Index to issue 131.
