Summary
The PCs pushed on deeper into the underbelly of Shadowfell keep, going through...the Mystery Door!

The door led into a dark, maze-like area with strange glyphs on the floor. A brief test revealed that touching a glyph would cause it to emit a horrific scream. Besides attracting the inhabitants of the maze, the scream also had the capacity to fill those who heard it with fear - as Torinn and Splug learned to their dismay.

Despite the fact that the warrior and Delfar's cleric-in-training fled into a darkened room, they were relatively unscathed by the time the rest of the party reached them - and shed the light that revealed zombies attacking the two. Despite the arrival of reinforcements, the party easily dispatched the shambling corpses, due in great part to Delfar's holy powers.

Passing through the room the PCs then came upon a crypt-like area, a hall lined with sarcophagi. Despite Delfar and Splug's disapproval, the rest of the party proceeded to pry open the sarcophagi in an attempt to find anything of value (or to prevent an unexpected attack). Their "desecration" was short-lived as once Torinn and Saeras made their way deeper into the hall, the sarcophagi burst open as by magic and a horde of skeletons poured forth. Once again, they were easily dispatched.

Beyond the hall lay a shrine to Baltur. A short prayer at one of its altars seemed to effect a change to the crypt, causing it to brighten and apparently dispelling whatever evil had come over it. Past the shrine was another room, with a single coffin topped with a sculpture of a knight in plate with a short across his body. Despite their previous avariciousness, the party chose not to plunder this particular grave and proceeded to leave the tomb. Before they could leave, however, the coffin burst open and the ghostly form of its occupant raged forth, demanding to know the PCs' business in the keep.

The heroes quickly realized they were confronting Sir Keegan, the former lord of Shadowfell Keep. A tense conversation took place in which the PCs were able to convince the dead knight that their intentions were honorable. As a result, Keegan gave the party his magical longsword Aecris, to help them defeat the death cult that had infiltrated the ruins.

The PCs returned to the zombie maze (though now a "zombie-free" maze) and found a set of stairs leading down - deeper into the dungeon. Before heading down, however, a secret door caught their eye. Going through they were beset by zombies again, though they were easily defeated. The secrets of the room yet await them, and then...the second level...and hopefully, tougher challenges to slay them all challenge them!
