Summary

Suffering from mild nausea, Miandra volunteered to watch over Wylan's carcass while the other three pressed on into the fortress. The paladin, rogue, and warlock continued on past the charnel house that was once an entrance hall and came to a circular room that was apparently a shrine. When they entered, they came upon a group of goblins attempting to replace a dragon idol (fallen on the floor) from the shrine's altar with a bat idol representing some obscure minor deity of too little consequence to cover in further detail. A melee ensued, with the end result being three living heroes and numerous dead goblins.

The trio continued on, following another long corridor. They eventually came upon an extremely large (and, again, round) room, filled with the remnants of giant ballistae and a ten foot diameter cauldron. Not knowing exactly what to make of the place, they wisely left things along and moved on. Eventually they came to an unoccupied room used for storage and as a barracks, but found nothing of value there.

The party's relatively uneventful excursion led to a closed door through which Shashank could hear voices - guttural voices in a language he was not familiar with.

The group threw open the door and entered the room. The chamber contained a number of statues of dark elves which faced a throne on the wall opposite the door. There was a table in front of the throne covered in papers, and congregated nearby was an ogre and a number of goblin warriors. Foregoing diplomacy, the three adventurers preemptively attacked the humanoids. After being hit by a number of javelins and crossbow bolts, the party pulled back into the outside corridor. Eventually they drew out the goblins and despite a difficult fight, they were victorious against the small humanoids as well as their ogre leader.

Searching the table, they found a map of the level they were on. Between the map's layout and the various notes scrawled in its margins, they discerned that a room they had bypassed earlier was important. They returned to this area, and found yet another round room of moderate size. In the center of the room was a raised dais, upon which resetd a crescent-topped staff. Goblin corpses littered the ground in front of the dais, and a "shadowy figure" stood nearby. Kalnac went in to grab the staff; it was then that the figure revealed itself to be a flesh golem, which attacked the group, focusing on the warlock. After an unusually easy combat, the three destroyed the construct.

With their resources nearly spent, the group retreated to Miandra and Wylan's location to rest and recuperate.

Once they have finished resting, the hardy band plans to re-enter the old fortress and further brave the dangers of...
