Essengard

City of Mercenaries

Essengard is a city-state located in southeastern Karnathas. It is known for the prowess of its fighting men, and many mercenary companies are found here. The warriors of Essengard often test their mettle by questing in small groups into the neighboring wildlands: the hills or the Forsaken Heath to the north or the mountains east and northwest of the city. Larger expeditions will sometimes venture all the way into the Eastern Desolation. The monsters, tribesmen, and other dangers of these places challenge and strengthen those Essens who survive them.

The Essens tend to have a "no questions asked" policy - most of the mercenary companies will fight for whoever has the coin to pay them.
