Halgrim's Rest
Dwarven Holy Site
Halgrim's Rest is a place sacred to the Runir as it is the site where their chief deity, Halgrim, was slain during the Divinity War. The remnants of his earthly form were left here: links from his chainmail hauberk, shards from his mighty waraxe, and his entire left hand. A temple was built here to mark the site and inter the relics. Unfortunately, in 788 the surrounding mountains were overrun by goblinoids and the temple was attacked. Rather than let it be desecrated by the foul greenskins, the defenders of the temple collapsed the entrances to the place and sealed it off from the world. Years later, the Runir tried to get back to the temple but the Marasinians wouldn't allow it. Those few Runir who were able to make their way into the mountains were slain by orcs and goblins.
Now that the dust has settled from the Thaumaturgical Wars, the dwarves - many religious pilgrims - are trying to make their way back to recover the temple. An enclave is emerging in the northern part of the mountains to support the quest to find Halgrim's Rest; the exact location is no longer known as most Runic records from the time have been lost.
