Lor Elesna

Ruined Elven City
Lor Elesna is a ruined Sylvari city found in the Avellyn River Valley, northeast of Ilmara. It was once one of the greatest cities of the elves, but like the rest it was abandoned when the Mystarchs attempted to exterminate the Sylvari. Unlike Corathmyr and Lyranorr, the elves have not reclaimed the city. Much of the city was destroyed when the Marasinians laid siege to it prior to the release of their magical plague. In addition, it is heavily populated with various monsters and humanoid tribes. The effort to retake and repopulate Lor Elesna is far beyond the means of the Sylvari at the present time.

Currently, the elves launch or sponsor expeditions into the ruins to recover items from their past. They are trying to preserve elven history, not reclaim the city; the casualties they inflict on the monstrous population of Lor Elesna are easily and quickly replaced.
