Nightmarsh

Nightmarsh is a foul quagmire located in the northeast of the Maru Jungles. It is a most inhospitable place, home to large snakes, giant insects, and trolls. There is also an unusually high number of Undead creatures in the Nightmarsh (including the Undead dragon Andraathrux), likely due to the heightened amount of necromantic energy emanating from the swamp. No one knows where this energy comes from; the wizards of neighboring Maraada have been investigating Nightmarsh to find its source, but they have met with no success thus far.

A number of rare magical and medicinal herbs grow nowhere else but the Nightmarsh, so despite the danger, expeditions into the swamp are not uncommon.
