Runir

The Runir, or Stone Dwarves, are a stout race of short stature that has been around since -5000. They have been in a decline for some time due to attacks by humanoid tribes, Nalgrim, and other aggressors. Their strongholds were once spread throughout the mountain ranges of Karnathas and Atharys; today, only two remain: Kharazgar and Stonehelm. The rest have all fallen into ruin.

Because there is safety in numbers, the Runir have allied with humans. Both are threatened by the evil and chaos around them, and both are determined to fight to rebuild their civilizations.

The Runir are partially subterranean, living on and in mountains across the world. They are careful not to dig too deep underground as they fear succumbing to whatever malady befell their former brethren (and current enemies) the Nalgrim so many years ago.
