Varghani Desert

Eastern Zarkhir is dominated by the harsh Varghani Desert. The Varghani is one of the largest wastelands in the known world, second only to the Eastern Desolation. Few folk live in this cruel environment; there are a handful of nomadic clans that eke out an existence here, but most keep to oases or the city-states along the coasts.

Legends say that during the Second Age, this area was a lush, tropical rainforest that was part of a great empire (possibly the Qeshan Empire). To combat an invading army, the empire's wizards cast a magical ritual that was meant to destroy the attackers. Unfortunately, the ritual went horribly awry and resulted in the creation of the desert.
